About Nitya
As a tutor with a B.S. in Biochemistry from UCLA and extensive experience in both high school and college-level instruction, I’m deeply invested in helping students achieve their academic goals. My skills in simplifying complex scientific concepts, coupled with a strong foundation in chemistry, algebra, and biochemistry, ensure that I can effectively guide students across various subjects and academic levels.
During my time in the UCLA Learning Assistant Program, I honed my ability to use a student-centered approach, focusing on helping learners think critically and solve problems independently. I developed personalized review materials such as worksheets, cheat sheets, and interactive exercises to cater to different learning styles and needs. These resources not only strengthen foundational knowledge but also promote higher-order thinking, which is crucial for long-term academic success.
My teaching approach is highly adaptable and individualized. I begin each session by assessing the student’s current understanding and identifying any gaps in knowledge. From there, I create a structured lesson plan that incorporates real-world applications, making abstract concepts more tangible and easier to grasp. I believe in guiding students through complex topics at a manageable pace, using interactive methods like guided questioning and problem-solving exercises to build confidence and deeper understanding. My goal is not just to help students improve their grades, but also to instill a love for learning and the ability to apply knowledge in various contexts.
With experience tutoring high school students at all levels and working with undergraduates in subjects like general chemistry, my approach is versatile and results-driven. I’m proud of my ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment where students feel supported and motivated to push their limits. Whether it’s preparing for exams or building a strong foundation for future coursework, my teaching strategies are designed to foster confidence, critical thinking, and academic excellence.
You can count on me to maintain open communication and respond promptly to questions or concerns. I value feedback and am always looking for ways to improve my sessions to better meet my students' needs. My professionalism, dedication, and proven results make me a reliable partner in your educational journey.

Teaching Method and Techniques:
I employ a student-centered approach that focuses on guiding learners toward independent problem-solving and critical thinking. My teaching method adapts to each student's unique learning style, ensuring personalized and effective instruction. I create customized resources like worksheets and cheat sheets to target key areas of difficulty and promote higher-order thinking. Through interactive review sessions and real-world applications, I help students deepen their understanding and become more confident in applying concepts to new contexts.
Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material to ensure continuity. I then introduce the topic of the day using relatable, real-world examples to make the content engaging and relevant. We work through problems together, with increasing complexity to challenge the student's comprehension and application skills. I use guided questioning to promote critical thinking and ensure the student isn't just memorizing but truly understanding the material. The lesson concludes with a summary and additional practice problems to solidify understanding. If applicable, I assign follow-up tasks to reinforce learning outside of the session.
What Sets Me Apart:
What distinguishes me as a tutor is my ability to break down complex concepts into simpler, more manageable parts, making difficult topics easier to understand. My background in biochemistry and experience in both college-level tutoring and high school instruction allows me to adapt my methods to students across a range of academic levels. I focus not only on improving grades but also on building students' confidence and fostering a positive relationship with education. My lessons emphasize critical thinking, real-world application, and comprehensive preparation for both coursework and exams.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My tutoring services are designed for students at various academic levels, including high school and undergraduate college students. I specialize in tutoring subjects like chemistry, general chemistry, and algebra. Whether you're a high school student struggling with chemistry or a college underclassman preparing for general chemistry exams, my lessons are tailored to meet your specific needs and academic goals.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to discuss how I can support your academic journey. I'm committed to offering prompt responses and personalized feedback to ensure our sessions are continuously improving and aligned with your needs.
