About Aaron
I started playing ukulele in grade 3 as part of a regional music education program. I continued to play all through high school despite ridicule from my peers. As a young adult, I only played my ukulele sporadically while pursuing other things in life but I came back to it in my late 20s and haven't stopped playing it since. I am more of a mellow player than a hot dog. I love the ergonomics of this instrument. I am delighted that it has become so popular after decades relegated to novelty acts and jokes.

I believe that learning music should be fun. As such, I favor exercises that lead directly to playing music, rather than focusing exclusively on technique and drills. I aim to familiarize students with chord shapes and scales moving up and down the fretboard such that they may generate a wide variety of sounds and tones with their instrument.
My skill set and my lessons are appropriate for beginner and intermediate players. I emphasize careful listening, delicate playing, mastering songs and broadening strumming and fingerpicking techniques to obtain a maximum range of rhythms and textures with the instrument. As a singer, I favor using this instrument for accompaniment over a purely instrumental approach.
