My approach as a tutor
I focus on making math intuitive rather than memorized. I start by identifying gaps in understanding, then explain concepts step by step using examples that match how the student thinks. I emphasize problem-solving strategies, pattern recognition, and learning why formulas work so students can apply them confidently on their own.
Typical lesson structure
Each session begins with a quick check of recent material or homework questions. We then work through new concepts together, followed by guided practice and independent problems to reinforce mastery. I end each lesson with takeaways, shortcuts, and strategies students can use between sessions.

As a current UNC Chapel Hill student with straight A’s in Math and Statistics and an 800 SAT Math score, I understand both the material and how it’s tested today. I explain ideas in multiple ways, adjust to each student’s learning style, and focus on building confidence—not just finishing problems.
