I am student and is constantly learning new things. I have access to standard textbooks for each subjects. I usually got through the topic required study on my own and make my notes. Then i teach the student the main concept behind the topic in simple context. Then we would read together the textbook content. I believe this is a great strategy for clearing the doubts and understanding the basic principles of the topic without any kind of by hearting.
