I’m a history student at Oxford, and studied history, English literature, economics, and ancient history at A-Level. I’ve obtained multiple certifications in tutoring, have worked with multiple schools as a tutor for both individuals and groups, and am fully DBS-checked.

I assess students’ strengths and weaknesses in our first session, usually going through a few exam questions. Having done that, I’ll compare notes with the student on what they think they struggle with, and decide on a teaching plan from there. We’ll move forward by looking at exam questions together and figuring out what knowledge and techniques we need to answer those questions at the top level. We’ll work on obtaining and cementing those, and then the student can do a question on their own, putting what they’ve learned into practice.
Throughout the lesson(s), I try to maintain student engagement in the teaching process: making sure that we’re on the same page is essential. I’ll do this by checking in throughout the class, trying to minimise what I simply state and instead guiding students towards their own conclusions, and by varying the type and focus of lessons.
