Aristotle suggests politics is always about "good life". I tend to look things from this perspective when i look at this subjects. When you study philosophers and ideologies you explore the very idea of where we stand as a state also not to forget how we consider ourselves global village too as transformationist would point out as opposed to skeptics.
Political science as a subject provides infinite ends where one tries to fit oneself in the circle but it remains always leaning towards "good life" keep in mind.
I'll try to expand your knowledge through the indian context where political system and history has been pecuilar in itself.
