About Elijah
The first thing I tell my own professors is that I'm here to learn, because it is what I love. I'm seeking a career in scientific research (field not yet decided I love all the sciences). And I love allowing others to learn as well. In school I focused on being a well-rounded individual, I'm classically trained in the double bass, I spent much of my time on the swim team and proudly led them as captain. I now wrestle in UT's Longhorn wrestling program alongside my studies of philosophy, history and the sciences. I am concerned with many facets of life and I aim to be as well-rounded of a human as I can.

Aristotle believes that science and wisdom are the pinnacle of education and all other arts stem from that. I love learning myself, and it has translated into loving to help other people learn as well. My approach will be from the ground up, whatever is necessary to learn the substance efficiently will be taught from basics in order to fluently learn what's actually going on. That might sound tedious but I find it's much more fluid in the long run especially when it comes to applying that education to higher education. I would like to create a space where the students are open to learning and inquisitive. Where it's the student's job to take the pieces I give them in order to understand the systems as a whole rather than just me listing facts and the student memorizing what they need to. A typical lesson plan will be based on the student's current knowledge of the subject but would consist of a brief abstract to introduce them to the subject, intricate explanation of the substance needed, guided practice problems and then open-ended questions and tweaks to the ideas presented.
