About Mirabelle
I am currently studying in my second year for my degree in History and American Studies at the University of Manchester. I achieved a first in year one of University, two A*s and an A at A-Level, and two 9s in English Language and Literature at GCSE. My favourite modules at University are centred around American Literature, and I most enjoy writing essays based on historical context and detailed literature analysis. During secondary school, I was predicted a 6 and 7 for my English GCSEs. However, through active recall, studying of the exam board and previous model answers, I was able to excel past teacher’s expectations. I applied this knowledge going into my A-Levels and was able to achieve the grades I needed to get into University. I have a breadth of knowledge on what examiners are actually looking for, and will provide practical tips for picking up easy marks students often miss.

Hello! As a tutor I believe structured but flexible learning is what helps students succeed in English. Explanations in both English Language and Literature should be catered to each student and what they find interesting. My lessons include a detailed explanation of mark schemes and getting the student to think like an examiner. Additionally, I will provide toolkits for each student including quote banks with analysis, exam questions, flash cards, and whatever other revision resources the student finds useful. My tutoring style aims to build confidence in both English Language and Literature, with an understanding of how to achieve top marks through efficient revision techniques.
