About Annelise
I am a current 3rd-year student at Brown University studying economics with a focus on public policy. History has always been a favorite subject of mine along with civic engagement and communications. In high school, I took AP US History and AP Government, receiving a 5 on both exams. I also have experience in AP English Literature and English Language along with writing at a collegiate level which gives me skills to help students gain confidence in comprehension, presentation, and writing. I enjoy working with students! Each summer I return home to North Dakota to be a camp counselor at the North Dakota Leadership Seminar and the ADA Camp Maverick where I have experience working with students ages 7 to 18.

My approach focuses on building critical thinking, clear expression, and meaningful connections to the world around us. I help students understand key themes and concepts through one-on-one discussions, guided questioning, and age-appropriate examples rather than memorization alone. A typical lesson includes reviewing course topics, introducing new material with visuals or primary sources, and practicing skills and approaches to gain comfort with the topics. We will do this through reading comprehension, writing, and presenting ideas. What sets me apart is my ability to adapt lessons to each student’s needs and learning style while building confidence in speaking and writing. These lessons are designed virtual and for K-12 students seeking homework support, test preparation, or stronger communication and analytical skills.
