Meet Annette – Psychology, Data Science, & College Admissions Tutor
Hi! I'm Annette, a third-year undergraduate at the University of Chicago double majoring in Psychology and Data Science. I’ve worked as a research assistant, led university-level Python workshops, and held leadership positions in consulting and tech-focused student organizations. I also have hands-on experience with college admissions—crafting standout essays, building compelling applications, and helping students showcase their unique stories.
My Approach
My tutoring style is collaborative, confidence-focused, and tailored to each student’s needs. I break down complex topics using clear explanations, real-world examples, and techniques like active recall and spaced repetition. My sessions are structured but flexible, allowing space for curiosity, creativity, and deeper learning.
A Typical Session
We start with a quick check-in or review, dive into the day’s topic (whether that’s course content or college prep), and spend time practicing or brainstorming together. I always end with key takeaways and next steps so progress feels continuous and achievable.
What Sets Me Apart
I bring a unique mix of technical expertise, research experience, and emotional intelligence. I know what it’s like to juggle multiple academic interests, and I’m here to help students not only understand the material but also find motivation and clarity in their goals. When it comes to college applications, I help students reflect deeply and write authentically, ensuring their voice and value shine through.
Subjects & Support Areas
I tutor:
High school and college students in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Data Science, and related fields
Intro to programming (Python, R, beginner machine learning)
Quantitative courses (Statistics, Regression, Experimental Design)
Research writing & social science essays
College application support (essay brainstorming, editing, application strategy)
Whether you're preparing for finals or the next phase of your academic journey, I’m here to help you feel ready, confident, and inspired.
