About Vidita
I am currently a junior at Duke University majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. I intend to pursue a PhD in cell biology. I have taken both courses of organic chemistry and performed highly in general chemistry both in high school and college. I performed well on a multitude of AP exams, so I am well-equipped to help students study for those. I am currently doing research in reproductive biology at my university. I've had to work to figure out how to balance my academics with the other activities happening in my life. I remember how deeply confusing and stressful the end of high school was, and I hope to be able to lead other students to success. My goal in tutoring is to create a space where students are comfortable asking questions. I hope that I can help my students feel more confident and comfortable in their abilities.

I typically start lessons by having the student describe to me what they're struggling with before the lesson even starts. If there's a particular assignment or homework that they're struggling with, I work through that with my student. If there isn't a specific assignment, I try to create a lesson plan before the meeting. I go online and find resources and tutorials that were helpful to me when I first learned these topics. As I get to know students I try to tailor the resources I pick to their learning needs and interests. I do my best to utilize the whiteboard on Zoom and my tablet to make the lessons feel as tactile and real as possible. I try to focus my lessons on working through examples rather than lecture based teaching. If my student is still struggling with a concept after our session I do my best to find resources online and create study guides for them to use throughout the week when we aren't meeting.
