In my way of approaching French, I strive for the student to gain confidence in his ideas and in his way of reading a text as well as developing an argument. In this matter the important thing is to be convincing and to explain your reflections as much as possible, so I explain the method that worked for me and I check that the student has always understood the text or the statement and that 'he is able to give me his interpretation, to be sure that he does not only acquiesce so as not to admit that he did not understand.
