About Lloyd

I first began my zeal for academic pursuit during my GCSE's. Studying history, art and english literature created a profound sense of interest that had allured towards me.

This curiosity encouraged my to study History, Politics and English Literature at the A Level.

It also helped that I want to join the military as an Army Officer and had also been in the Army Cadets at the time. Wanting to be an army officer also meant to me to be a leader and thus the prospect of understanding the world around us and how key events, figures and processes shaped the modern context of todays world felt ever more important to me.

During my A Level study, my academic desire sky rocketed. Studying the Russian revolution, understanding the nature of UK and US government (as well as the comedic questionability of political dramas) grasped me ever further into the world of knowledge.

My study of poetry in English Literature had also helped me by using my skills in understanding and interpretation to look at questions from different angles to understand the concept better.

I had also had a mentor, an Oxford student who had aided me in my work with profound wisdom and knowledge. My mentor had thus set an example for me, and created within me a moral desire to return the favour to the younger population began.

And as my hard work paid off, opening my A Level results I felt the overwhelming sense of self-satisfaction take over me, as well as the excitement of my academic fervour elevating towards the university level, at University College London.

My approach to tutoring is unconventional in the sense that I understand that one method that works for one, may not necessarily work for another.

Thus, I would employ tailored strategic methods suitable to the needs of my pupil to ensure my mentee not only retains the fundamental knowledge required for their course, but also to understand the material inside and out.

I would also further increase and boost the confidence of my mentee in their own ability by engaging them in critical conversations and discussions that would produce inventive thoughts to aid them further in their study combined alongside different methodological approaches to learning.

In turn, this would have them walking into exams with an acquired knowledge that breeds with it a sense of confidence that they too are capable to answer any questions thrown at them.

I have methods that worked very well for me during my A Levels, and may also work very well for my mentee. Nevertheless, a precise tailoring would coincide with the tutoring I provide to meet the needs and desires of the mentee.

Each lesson would be 1 hour, however extended periods of tutoring may be provided depending on the circumstances of my mentee (e.g; an upcoming mock examination or examination seasons).

I have studied at both GCSE and at A Level and have now took my expertise to an undergraduate degree to specialise my knowledge in the History and Politics of America and wish to spread my knowledge for the good of the future generation.

My level aims towards A Level students between 16-18, however I am also open to teaching younger groups at GCSE level who aim to be studying A Levels in the future.
