About Sam
Hi! My name is Sam, and I am a second-year Honors Computer Science student at the University of Alberta pursuing a minor in Mathematics. I am passionate about helping students develop a strong understanding of mathematics and computer science while building the confidence needed to succeed in their courses.
I offer tutoring in high school mathematics, including trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus, as well as introductory university courses such as MATH 144/154, MATH 146/156, CMPUT 174, and CMPUT 175. Having completed the honors-stream programming courses CMPUT 274 and CMPUT 275, I have extensive experience with problem-solving, programming, and analytical thinking.
My teaching experience includes tutoring mathematics and physics throughout high school and serving as a Section Leader for Stanford University's Code in Place program, where I taught Python and mentored students from diverse educational backgrounds. These experiences have helped me develop a patient, supportive, and adaptable teaching style.
I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to each individual's goals and learning preferences. Whether you are preparing for an exam, catching up in a course, or aiming for top grades, I will work with you to create a structured plan that makes challenging concepts easier to understand. My goal is not only to help you solve problems but also to ensure you understand the reasoning behind them so that you can succeed independently. If you're concerned, I'm a very friendly and easy-to-talk-to guy, so getting to know each other will be a breeze. Feel free to reach out, and we can get started!

Hi! My name is Sam, and I'm a second-year Honors Computer Science student at the University of Alberta with a minor in Mathematics. I offer tutoring in high school mathematics, including trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus, as well as first-year university calculus courses such as MATH 144/154 and MATH 146/156.
I also tutor high school computer science and introductory university courses such as CMPUT 174 and CMPUT 175. Having completed the honors-stream courses CMPUT 274 and 275 myself, I have a strong background in programming and problem-solving.
I've been tutoring since high school, where I helped younger students with math and physics. I was also selected as a Section Leader for Stanford University's Code in Place program, where I taught Python and helped students learn programming through Stanford's curriculum.
My goal is to make learning approachable and enjoyable while helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. Lessons are tailored to each student's needs, and I provide regular practice, review, and support throughout the learning process. Whether you're looking to improve your grades, prepare for exams, or strengthen your understanding of a subject, I'd be happy to help. I'm very excited to teach you and am sure we will have a blast together. Feel free to reach out, and we can discuss a tutoring plan that works for you!
