About Willow
I am a bright, lively individual with a passion for teaching and working with children to develop their skills and achieve their goals. I value supporting children's well-being, believing that before children can engage effectively in lessons, their needs must be met. My pedagogy is centred around active learning and giving children the opportunity to directly experience key concepts to build their understanding where possible. I am especially passionate about supporting SEND learners, as someone with ADHD myself, I can understand the barriers and want to show learners that anyone can achieve their dreams.

My teaching centres around creating a welcoming and fun environment where children feel safe to take risks to further their development.
When supporting learners with SEND I can offer a range of focuses from academic subjects to social and emotional development. Within the first session, we will discuss goals, learning styles and interests to help me cater the sessions to learners. The goals we set do not have to be academically charged and can be focused on regulation, understanding ourselves and others, building confidence, building independence etc. These sessions will be catered to the learner, their needs and their goals.
I value learners' individual interests and learning styles and strive to incorporate these into my teaching to best engage and support learners. The typical length of a lesson will vary based on individual needs and targeted skills, typically for children in reception and younger I would offer a 30-minute session, from Year 1 I would extend this to 45 minutes to an hour. During every lesson breaks will be available as needed, longer sessions can be accommodated where appropriate.
I typically offer lessons for children from age 4-11 and can adapt lessons to meet learners' current understanding and challenge them to progress. I am able to support children in subjects across the National Curriculum, often focusing on reading, phonics, writing, mathematics as well as social and emotional development.

I attended University with Willow. Her love for teaching is infectious, and she is always able to identify and support the unique personalities, needs and learning styles of her students to make clear, enjoyable and educational lessons. She's very passionate about the importance of language and literature in education, and is well informed on the subject and how to teach it. Willow is a kind, empathetic and highly skilled educator who I happily recommend.
