About Evan
Hello! My name is Evan and I am a current third-year student at the University of Cambridge, studying French and Portuguese. I am spending this year abroad in Québec, teaching English to secondary school students, and I want to build on this experience by offering French tuition to students from primary-level up to GCSE.
I have completed British Council teaching courses as part of my year abroad preparation, and I have experience tutoring French from A-Level.
As mentioned when discussing my lessons, I am disabled: I am autistic and have ADHD, auditory processing disorder, and dyspraxia. All of these conditions can make learning languages difficult, yet I have succeeded in my studies and want to share my enthusiasm for language learning with other students who might be in the same situation as me!

I am offering Portuguese tuition to students from primary-level to GCSE. I am not a native but am studying for a degree in Portuguese at the University of Cambridge! Given this, my tuition will be focused on reading, writing, and vocabulary building, allowing you to build the foundations to improve your fluency. We will of course speak Portuguese, but I do not have a native accent.
I have learning disabilities and have only succeeded in my studies thanks to individualised teaching methods, so these are key for me. Lessons can be 30 minutes or 1 hour, and these will be tailored to the pupil's interests to make them engaging!
A typical lesson would entail:
- reviewing previous lesson work (if applicable)
- introduction of a new grammar point
- explanation and discussion of this grammar point in context
- reading, writing, and speaking exercises based on the lesson topic
- dedicated time for student questions/review at the end
For GCSE students, I can also offer specific exam revision sessions (provided there are past papers available!)
