About EJ
I am not only a university professor here in Miami, but I am also beginning a third MA program. This MA program is in French Literature and Language online through the University of New Orleans. I am constantly in search of knowledge and always looking to improve upon the languages I have studied in the past which include French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Russian and Chinese (with a bit of Polish, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Czech thrown in the mix). I absolutely love teaching because I originally come from the world of NY Advertising managing teams of graphic designers for clients such as Apple and Mercedes Benz to name a few. I always received great feedback from my team about my abilities to teach and communicate effectively. When I left NYC, I decided to pursue teaching as a full-time career and that is why I graduated with two MA degrees simultaneously. Teaching is in my blood -- I am fascinated by language and how understanding one's culture (on the student side) helps me to teach English effectively and how a student's understanding of English-speaking cultures helps students learn the language more effectively. I also am an avid traveler and have traveled to over 34 countries (so far). I believe this ability to understand cultures as diverse as Chinese and Russian, helps me to teach far and above what other teachers can do in teaching English.

Holding two MA degrees, I have a very thorough style of teaching English as both a language to enjoy but also a language to accomplish goals such as improving employment possibilities. I teach in what is called the "communicative style" -- you are encouraged to speak most of the time and practice each learning element with emphasis on meeting certain weekly goals. My best students are ones who are hungry to improve their English for work. I excel in understanding the English used for the Finance, Banking, Hospitality, and Transportation industries. I also have studied over 12 languages in varying degrees of proficiency (including French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese) so I understand the individual needs of a student based on their first language and I tailor my lessons to improve where their weaknesses lie due to which language they grew up speaking. A typical lesson plan would usually include YouTube videos, online readings tailored to the student's interests or professional goals, as well as a good amount of conversation which is not really about conversing as much as it is in testing your comprehension from previous lessons and moving forward with that knowledge to improve your speech (and writing) to the present lesson being taught. I am all about constantly referring back to your previous lessons to assure that a student retains and improves upon those lessons. I am a university professor here in Miami and my teaching skills are always being put to the test as well as improved upon by constant university professional teacher training.
