My teaching method includes explaining how / what to do thoroughly and go through each of the steps. Then, I tell the student to try it on their own, and when they are finished, I review the end result. I discuss the results with them, and let them know what to fix and/or what they can improve. If needed, I ask them to redo it to retest their abilities and again, go over what they did.
