About Elise
Hello! I'm Elise, and I'm thrilled to offer my expertise in English tutoring to help your child thrive. My passion for languages has been a guiding force throughout my life, shaping both my academic and professional journeys, and I'm excited to pass my passion on through tutoring!
I have a deep-seated love for languages, beginning with French, which I studied rigorously throughout school, culminating in an A Level qualification. This early interest in linguistics paved the way for my studies at university, where I achieved a First Class Honours degree in Japanese, reflecting my enthusiasm for understanding different cultures and forms of communication.
After completing my degree, I spent two years working as a software developer. This experience was a fascinating shift, as I transitioned from human languages to the world of computer languages. During this time, I honed my analytical and problem-solving skills, which I now bring into my tutoring sessions to help simplify complex concepts and make learning more accessible for young minds. Currently, I am on an exciting path back to academia, preparing to pursue a master's degree in Linguistics and Japanese.

As a dedicated and experienced tutor, I specialise in providing engaging and effective English lessons tailored for primary-aged children, especially those preparing for the 11 Plus and other secondary school entrance exams.
Customised Lessons: I create personalised lesson plans that focus on your child's unique strengths and areas for improvement. This allows for targeted learning that helps your child progress at their own pace.
Building Confidence: My lessons emphasise confidence-building, encouraging children to express themselves clearly and confidently both in written and spoken English.
Exam Preparation: I provide comprehensive preparation for the 11 Plus and other entrance exams, covering all necessary components including reading comprehension and creative writing.
Each lesson is 60 minutes long, a duration that is optimal for maintaining focus and achieving significant progress without overwhelming young learners. I offer flexible lesson times to fit around your family's schedule, ensuring convenience and consistency in your child's education.
I have previous experience in helping primary-aged children prepare for the 11 Plus and other secondary school entry exams, as well as a strong academic background with hands-on experience teaching younger students at my university.
My approach is always centred around your child's needs, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes learning and curiosity while ensuring they have the skills and confidence needed to excel!
