About Ronnie
I recently graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in the Interdisciplinary Studies program with a focus on languages (English, French, German, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish).
My last professional teaching experience dates back to an outreach trip to Guatemala in 2017, where I helped teach English in the classroom to students aged between 5 and 17 years old.
For the anecdote: I had to take on the role of an English-Spanish interpreter between the local host community and our group of volunteers, as we did not have a professional on our team!

Throughout my time in university and my interactions with other international students, I learned that language serves as a means of expression for the culture and the identity of an individual.
That is why I approach the teaching of a language with flexibility, and prefer to develop a program based on the specific needs and requirements of the student. Having myself learned English through song lyrics and film dialogues, I believe that learning a language involves working with the passions of the individual.
When it comes to grammar and conjugation, I do think that following rules and having a structure certainly benefits the student, however I engage in pedagogical practices based first and foremost on change and adaptation.
