About Michael
I am a composer based in Kingston, ON. I have been playing piano for over 17 years, and have completed my Bachelor's of Music at the University of Toronto, in composition and piano. I have been teaching piano, music theory, and composition for over 6 years with students of all ages, and I am excited to help more students achieve their music goals.

In my lessons we will cover a broad range of repertoire. If you are a beginner, we will focus on establishing the basics of note reading, keeping time, and working on finger dexterity, and if you've been playing for a while, we'll focus on extending your technical abilities and skills of interpretation. I will integrate theory and analysis into my lessons to help you better understand the music you're playing!
I am patient with each student, and have had a wide variety of teachers in the past from whom I can pass down bits of wisdom and technical advice.
I usually let my students have the final word on their repertoire selection - I understand it can be frustrating playing a piece that you do not enjoy! I will also try my best to explain what is going on in a piece to try change your mind - but again, if you do not wish to play it, we'll find something you enjoy more.
