About Masoom
Hi, I’m Masoom! I’m a third-year Honors Health Sciences student at McMaster University, and I’ve always enjoyed helping others understand subjects that can sometimes feel overwhelming. I tutor students from Grades 1–12 in STEM subjects, including math, biology, chemistry, and physics. Through my academic experience and previous work with students, I’ve developed a patient and adaptable approach to teaching.
I believe that every student is capable of improving when they have the right support and someone who takes the time to explain things in a way that makes sense to them. I aim to create a comfortable environment where students can ask questions without feeling embarrassed or pressured. Whether a student is struggling with a particular topic, preparing for an upcoming test, or simply looking to get ahead, I’m committed to helping them build both their understanding and confidence.

My approach to tutoring is centered around making sure students genuinely understand what they’re learning instead of just memorizing information. I like to first figure out what the student already understands and where they’re having trouble, then build from there. I’ll explain concepts in a way that is easier to follow, use examples and practice questions to reinforce them, and encourage students to work through problems themselves so they become more confident and independent. I also adjust my teaching style depending on the student because everyone learns differently.
A typical lesson will usually start with a quick review of what we covered previously or what the student is currently learning in class. From there, we’ll focus on the areas they’re struggling with, go through examples together, and then work through practice questions to make sure they can apply the concept on their own. I tutor students from Grades 1–12 in STEM subjects, including math, biology, chemistry, and physics.
