About
I began to give explanations of English, Portuguese, German, and history and art history to high school students during the licenciatura in 1989. With the conclusion of the master's degree in 1997 I began to teach seminars and courses dedicated to the History of Art and Heritage to specialized audiences in Portugal (undergraduate, master's and doctoral courses) and also in the scope of degrees in Portuguese studies in foreign universities.

My methodology draws from the principle that knowledge is earned from theoretical teachings in combination with practical skills. When I start a new course, I try, first of all, to know the competences and interests of my trainees, and to realize the dynamics of interaction between them and with the trainers. I try to conceived speech as appealing as possible, adapting the program as much as possible to the collective and individual profile when it comes to private explanations. In my classes, I have, as a rule, a presentation of the subject (perhaps, above all, in the case of the continuation of the previous subject, of a brief synthesis of the same subject), followed by its discussion. I encourage and try to teach new and old techniques of memorization, as well as visualization exercises and the relationship between theoretical and practical knowledge, between text and image. Exits to the exterior (museums, monuments, exhibitions, conferences, others) are a component that are also essential to my methodology of work.
