About Angela
I am a professional writer, editor, and teacher with a B.A. in Communication Studies, an M.A. in English, and an M.F.A in Creative Writing (Fiction). I’ve taught College Composition, Creative Writing, and English Literature courses at Auburn University and UNC Greensboro. As a tutor, I’ve worked with students from a range of backgrounds and goals, from helping high school students write their college application essays, to helping college students understand how to do a literary analysis, to working with graduate students to proofread and perfect their dissertations. My own fiction, poetry, and literary criticism has been published in nationally-distributed literary journals such as Colorado Review, Southern Humanities Review, The Lascaux Review, and elsewhere.

My lessons are student-centered and casual; we talk about your concerns, knowledge gaps, or learning goals and then use those as our jumping off points. Depending on what your particular goals are, lessons will consist of topic discussions, in-lesson practice, and you can expect to walk away with actionable steps for how to continue to achieve a learning goal, as well as with tangible takeaways to help you (from slide decks, to worksheets, to essay outlines, etc.). My goal is to tailor my lessons to my students’ needs and individual learning styles.
