About Naveed
I’m an experienced university lecturer with over five years of teaching experience, and a background in engineering and maths. I’ve taught at universities including the University of Leeds, Sheffield, and Sheffield Hallam, and I hold a PhD in engineering along with a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCert) — I’m also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I’ve worked with students at all levels, from undergraduates to postgraduates, and I know how to explain tricky mathematical ideas in a way that actually makes sense. Whether it’s algebra, calculus, mechanics, or statistics, I break things down step by step so you can build confidence and improve your results. I’m friendly, supportive, and patient — and I’ll always tailor our sessions to suit your pace and goals. I believe that the key to success in A-Level Maths is understanding, not memorisation. My teaching approach is structured, calm, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I aim to build both confidence and competence, starting from the fundamentals and gradually moving towards more advanced problem-solving and exam preparation. In each lesson, I: Begin by identifying the student's strengths and the areas they find challenging Break down complex topics into simple, logical steps Use exam-style questions and real-world applications to reinforce learning Encourage active problem-solving rather than passive note-taking Lessons are typically 1 hour long, with the option to extend depending on the topic or preparation needs. I also provide optional follow-up material or practice questions after sessions.
