About Laman

Hi, I'm Laman, a Computer Science student at the University of Leeds originally from Azerbaijan. I am fluent in English, Russian, and Turkish, and I know first-hand what it takes to master a language in an academic setting I achieved a Bilingual IB Diploma with a Level 6 in English and scored 8 in IELTS.
I have experience working with young people through my time as a Spelling Bee Judge and Event Coordinator, where patience, clear communication, and encouragement were essential. I genuinely enjoy helping others build confidence, and I find teaching rewarding because every student learns differently.
Whether you are preparing for an exam, improving everyday conversation, or working on academic writing, I would love to help you reach your goals in a relaxed, supportive environment.

About the lesson

I tailor every lesson to the individual student's needs, whether that means building confidence in spoken English, improving writing structure, or preparing for exams like IELTS or GCSE. I start each new student with a short assessment to understand their current level and goals, then build a personalised plan around that.
I hold a Bilingual IB Diploma with a Level 5 in English and scored an 8 in IELTS, so I know what these assessments require and how to prepare for them effectively. I am currently studying Computer Science at the University of Leeds, so I am comfortable explaining things clearly and breaking down complex ideas into simple steps.
Lessons are typically one hour and conducted online or in person in Leeds. I am patient, encouraging, and adapt my pace to suit each student. I particularly enjoy working with students who are learning English as a second language, having gone through that journey myself.
