About Lucy
My name is Lucy Martin. I studied Ancient Greek and Latin throughout my time at school and at university. I studied at Oxford University initially but transferred to Manchester where I completed my degree. My specialties would include Ancient Greek and Latin literature, translation, grammar and philosophy. I have studied Ancient Greek for 6 years and most of that focus has been on Ancient Greek literature. I am well-versed in the works of Homer, having studied both the Iliad and the Odyssey in depth. During my time at University, I translated the entirety of Antigone by Sophocles. At university, I translated the likes of Xenophon, Sophocles, Euripides, Herodotus, Plato and Homer. I took modules including one on the Iliad, Texts and Contexts, which had me studying the likes of Aristophanes, Euripides and Herodotus, as well as studying the Pre-Socratic Philosophers and some playwrights. I have lots of experience not only analysing texts and identifying literary techniques but also in translating texts from Greek into English and vice versa.

My lessons can range from 30mins to an hour depending on a student's needs. I'm friendly and welcoming, as I always strive to see my students thrive and make progress. I taught secondary school English since October so I have tutoring experience. My lessons are for secondary school-university students. I have a degree in Classics, studying Latin since I was 12 and Ancient Greek since I was 15. I went to Oxford University but ultimately got my degree from thee University o f Manchester.
