About Zoe
I am a current university student studying my Bachelor of Environments at the University of Melbourne, majoring in civil engineering systems. My field of study require a strong foundation in physics, mathematics and English. Next year I hope to begin my Masters of Civil Engineering and continue studying to become an accredited engineer.
Having been on both sides of the tutor / student and mentor / mentee experience, I understand the value of having a good mentor and tutor, and what students seek within a tutor. I first began in peer tutoring in high school, teaching chemistry and mathematics. Over the past few years I have also been embarking on school outreach programs, teaching workshops in Victorian metropolitan and regional schools to foster interest in engineering and STEM-related subjects and fields. I find sharing my knowledge and experience with others, and seeing them improve a very rewarding experience.

I employ several methods and strategies when teaching. Depending on the student's needs, capabilities and current knowledge I approach each student's learning differently, whether it is a more teacher-centered approach with testing and assessment to help objectively measure improvement or student-led approaches to facilitate more discussion around their ideas and how they think. Different methods are suitable for certain subjects, and students tend to learn differently too, whether through visual, auditory and/or kinesthetic aids and cues.
