About Santina
I am currently in my third year at Mount Royal University, and I am majoring in Biology. Following my undergrad, I am also looking into applying for medical school. In my spare time, however, I love to write both creatively and professionally. Throughout my entire high school career, I obtained a 90%+ average in my English courses, and I maintained an average of 85%+ across all of my courses. I have plenty of experience in the past with tutoring, and I can offer a letter of reference from one of the parents of my past students that I helped last year. I also have experience tutoring at a university level as I am currently a tutor with the peer learning program at mount royal university. I love helping students develop more efficient ways to study and help make connections between topics learned in the classroom. My approach to tutoring is to make it an interactive experience designed to fill in the gaps between topics rather than re-teaching them. I believe that the best way to understand topics is by practicing them. If you have any questions at all please feel free to reach out as well.

My sessions are one hour long, and I prefer to hold weekly sessions as it is the best way to stay on top of the material. My tutoring style includes a collaborative approach that allows students space to make mistakes and learn from them. By using exercises designed to further the students learning rather than re-teaching it, the student can develop long-lasting skills instead than just memorizing content. I also show the student different ways they can approach various questions and exams (such as essay planning techniques, reading comprehension techniques, etc.) I also love utilizing the content the student is working on in class and connecting them to my exercises so they can better understand the topics they are struggling with.
