About Freya
I have lived in both the UK and Oman, the latter being where I fell in love with literature. Despite having consistent A grades in GCSE, I never felt passionate about my classes. Yet, whilst I was studying History, English lit and Art A-levels, I fell in love with my subjects, intrigued as to how they were all intrinsically tied together. My peers and I would often discuss the novels we studied outside of class, gossiping about the characters fictional lives and romanticising the worlds of Austen or the Brontë sisters. For me, these jokes allowed me to connect with subject on a deeper level and produce more layered analysis, something I would love to help other students create.

Hello, I’m Freya a 19 year old university student who is passionate about English literature. I attended a prestigious British school in the Middle East and recently gained 4 A levels, including an A grade in English lit. I am experienced in tutoring literature to GCSE and A-level students, with typical sessions being upwards of an hour. My teaching style consists of questioning authorial intent, as well as interweaving historical context into the reading process so the student can fully engage with the text. Finding a personal connection to the novel, play or poem is essential for better grades and enjoyment of the course. Subsequently my techniques in close reading, discussing interpretations and guided activities, will allow for this connection to be made. Additionally, I am proficient in essay writing so will be able to help students to create well structured essays. My passion for reading outside of School allowed me to develop as a reader and an essay writer, I hope that I can instill this enthusiasm in my students.
