About Joachim
I want to tutor as I feel that I would like to gain experience in how to work in different environments to prepare me for a later career in something like financial planning. It also helps me understand and experience types of interactions, through tutoring, that you have in a professional context whilst also helping someone improve in the subject. To add to this, I want to see if teaching could be a long-term career and this is a way to do it. I have also done tutoring for a charity in my home town which provided heavily subsidised tutoring for children who were from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, which gave me teaching experience in GCSE history and religious studies.

In my lessons, if they tell me what they are struggling with, I will make sure that I spend my time going through that specific topic with them. In order to make sure that they understand everything, I will create exercises to see if they struggle in a specific topic. For example, in history GCSE, if they can’t quite remember how the U2 crisis occurred, I will try to explain it and make a writing exercise in order to remember it. At the end, I will go through the national curriculum of that particular topic and make sure the student knows everything for the exam, particularly exam technique. Therefore, we would do many past papers together at the end.
