About Saman
I am very thankful that I have been given a chance to describe myself.I have only one brother and hold the position as elder child. I hail from an educated background. My father is serving as a government employee , and my mother is an educationist and running a school from last 5 years, who has left no stone un-turned in utilizing her pool of information while helping the two of us in our studies. As I belong to educated background and it has its perks and that’s why I was blessed with the opportunity to receive my high school education from the best institutions of this country. I have a degree in Bs. (hons) Nutrition and dietetics from one of the top 10 most prestigious public sector universities in Pakistan according to HEC ranking i.e. University of veterinary and animal sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. During my undergraduate studies, my inquisitiveness led me to work with my professors and to do a research on the topic “High prevalence of pre obesity and obesity among university students of Lahore and its relation with dietary habits and physical activity’’ and another topic “Survey on dietary habits of university students”. These projects went on for four months and during this period I became more aware of the severity of the situation. Lack of optimal nutritional care, inappropriate dietary habits and their consequences took me into a shock.Until now, I have always shown as the brightest student of the class not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities. At the elementary level, I was always the A+ student. My excellence in academics continued in the middle school as well with maintaining the stance of the A+ student and was declared as the most disciplined and most obedient student of the class. Beside my strong academic pursuits I have been much active and enthusiastic in other aspects of my life. In Taekwondo, I have gained green belt certificate, earned gold medal in the educator’s southern Punjab debate competition which was among more than 100 students and got position in many other speech competitions.
I have done an internship for about three months at Sheikh Zaid hospital in Lahore. During that placement, I have mastered skills like: providing health advice and promoting healthy eating, helping people come to terms with their illnesses, advising about special diets, making presentations, writing reports
Working with people has broadened my communication skills and I learnt how to handle different characters in short time. With my experience in high level of interpersonal skills, ability to work in changing environment and English proficiency I was able to adjust to the work in a short time. I believe that my working experience in combination with my studies make my admission in this program possible.
During the past 4 years of studies at university, I have been group leader, member of nutrition societies and girls representative of my class. My responsibilities were related to represent the university at events, make public speeches, day-to-day management and creating a link between teachers and pupils. These tasks helped me improve mostly my social and organizational skills and I have become more responsible and careful accomplishing my duties. Teamwork is something else that I have learned throughout my experience. Only with quality team work great achievement can be richen, and I have a strong will to pursuit the goal.
