About Linka

As a tutor for over three years, I first started tutoring because of my love for education, and wanted to give others the love and appreciation for learning that I had. I have worked both as a volunteer and a professional tutor, both independently and for nonprofits such as H.a.p.p.y inc, Interns4good and Breakthrough. I have tutored both in person, and virtually and am open to both dependent on the student's preferences. I am the current founder of my own nonprofit organization, philomath, that focuses on promoting educational equality in low income communities. I am a firm believer of the power a resource such as a tutor, and the effect they have on the student and their success.

About the lesson

Within my tutoring sessions, I utilize a very holistic approach to my lessons in which my students use creative ways to learn concepts they'd otherwise find boring. A typical lesson plan may include a thorough explanation of a concept, practice of the skill, as well as the student's own unique way to demonstrate their understanding, either through a fun teaching lesson, a song, etc.This, I have found, is how students learn the best, through applying their knowledge As a tutor I want to foster a love of learning within my students, for I believe they have been presented information in the wrong way, in the way that does not interest them. I work hard to make every tutoring session one that is filled with progress. I am a kind, attentive tutor and am here to serve my students and do my part to help them succeed. I am able to tutor: math for children from kindergarten to 8th grade, English for all grade levels, Spanish for beginners/intermediate, science for children from kindergarten to 8th grade.
