About Nicholas
Hello there! I am Nicholas, a second-year History & Politics student at the University of York, with a strong passion for history! I completed the International Baccalaureate in 2024 with a score of 39/45 and a high 6 in Higher Level History.
I am natively bilingual in English and Greek, which allows me to explain concepts clearly and support students of different backgrounds. I have experience teaching through the University of York Students in Schools programme. I take pride in my organisation and time management — I met all my IB deadlines on time, producing high level work in history. I enjoy helping students build confidence, develop clear essays, and achieve their goals in History at IGCSE and IB!

I am able to teach (I)GCSE, A-Level and IB History. My lessons are flexible and student-led, shaped around what each student wants to work on — whether that is exam preparation, essay structure, source analysis, or content review. I typically teach one-hour sessions, adapting my approach to suit different learning styles and confidence levels.
I strive to also help my students think critically about history; and as such, I am determined to make my students into avid critical thinkers who will question the reliability of different perspectives and historical evidence in order to form their own analytical opinions; in a fun and engaging way!

Nicholas is helping me prepare for my IB History exams in May. His clear explanations and strong feedback enabled me to get a 7 in my IB1 exams and a strong prediction for the coursework component. I would recommend him to anyone who is passionate about history and aims to do well in their final exams. If you struggle to remember evidence, he has helpful methods to obtain this, as well as exam-focused questions to help you practice your essay writing skills.
Nikos helped tutor me in IGCSE history, describing things very clearly with after-school sessions organized by the history department. He was patient, giving clear and effective explanations on difficult topics, such as Authoritarian States. He encouraged me to think critically, rather than simply answering my questions, allowing me to produce essays at the highest level. A great tutor, I highly recommend him!
