About Tanya
I am Tanya Walia, a passionate data scientist currently pursuing a Master of Professional Studies in Data Science. With over 2.5 years of experience working as a Data Scientist at Allstate, I have developed strong expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling. My work has focused on using data to drive meaningful insights and solutions, and I am constantly striving to expand my knowledge in the field.
Currently, I am interning at Athena through the Shattuck Entrepreneur Internship Program for Entrepreneurship Innovation and Social Change, where I am applying my skills to real-world projects aimed at fostering innovation and social impact. As a tutor, I have had the opportunity to guide students through challenging academic subjects, helping them build confidence and improve their skills. My tutoring experience has been focused on data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence, including specific subjects, e.g., mathematics, data analytics, programming, statistics, etc., where I have worked with students ranging from high school to college students and even old age people.
In this role, I tailored my approach to fit each student’s unique learning style, identifying areas where they needed the most support and developing personalized strategies to address those challenges. This involved breaking down complex topics into more digestible concepts, reinforcing foundational knowledge, and providing practical examples to ensure deeper understanding.
Throughout my tutoring sessions, I emphasized not only subject mastery but also critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By creating a supportive and encouraging environment, I was able to help students increase their confidence and academic performance. Additionally, I maintained a flexible approach to scheduling and was responsive to the needs and progress of each student.
