About Mike
I’m a singing tutor with over 10 years of experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Studies. My passion lies in helping singers not just perform—but create. I work closely with students to prepare for studio sessions, develop original songs, and explore their unique vocal sound. I use modern tools like DAWs, vocal processors, and studio microphones to teach real-world studio skills. Whether you’re recording a demo or learning to layer harmonies, I guide you through the entire process. My lessons focus on tone shaping, phrasing, and lyric interpretation so that every note you sing tells a story. I specialize in R\&B, Soul, Acoustic Pop, and Contemporary Christian music. Each genre offers a different vocal texture, and I help students master them with confidence and emotion. From warm-ups to final takes, I make sure you feel prepared and inspired. I teach both hobbyists and aspiring recording artists. Whether you want to sing for fun or build a portfolio, I meet you where you are. My singing approach for students preparing for auditions or building a strong vocal portfolio is focused, personalized, and performance-ready. For The Music Major, I emphasize precise tone matching, genre versatility, and stylistic authenticity. For The Suzuki Student, I build on technical discipline, integrating vocal agility exercises that sharpen control and flexibility.
We start with smart song selection—pieces that showcase vocal range, emotional depth, and musical strengths. I guide students to understand phrasing, dynamics, and storytelling within each song. We practice with controlled dynamics, blending technique and expression for a polished, confident sound.
Mock auditions are a key part of the process. They help students manage nerves, fine-tune delivery, and build stage presence. I also recommend using tools like backing track apps, lyric trainers, and pitch analyzers to support daily practice. Each session is designed to elevate performance skills while building a well-rounded, expressive voice.
