About Georgia

Hello! My name is Georgia, and I'm here to spread the combined teachings and wisdoms of the great authorial fore-fathers-and-mothers of the english language. Since I was little, I have craved the solitude and escapism of reading, and from the day I could hold a pen I have had a daily writing practice. Words have the ability to touch us deeply, resonating in ways that can move emotions and inspire actions. Words are arguably the most powerful tool that we possess as human beings, and I have always been fascinated with how we can use them to incite new thought, deeper understanding, and greater empathy for ourself and others.

I grew up in a small village in England, and moved with my family to Hong Kong when I was eight. Here I was exposed to a myriad of cultures, languages, climates, and perspectives. At thirteen I was sent back to England for boarding school, where I reconnected with my roots and learnt the classic and contemporary texts of English literature and theatre. It was during these years that I performed leading roles of Shakespeare at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and fell in love with the poetry of Chaucer and Silvia Plath. After school I took a degree in writing, directing and performance for theatre at the University of York, for which I completed one year before moving back to Hong Kong to teach English as a foreign language for one year. In Hong Kong I took up a job in the editorial team of a food magazine, where I was able to taste so much of the city's exciting food and then review, research and write about the restaurants. It was heaven on earth for me, and so I returned to university to study Journalism and Creative Writing. During my degree I undertook freelance work for businesses and charities to write for their blogs and websites. I have been practising yoga for over twelve years, and it was during my yoga teacher training that I began to practise an embodied approach to my writing, and with my personal success and the success of others, began coaching.

My inspiration to become a writing coach has taken many forms. I have studied books and plays like Shakespeare and Chaucer, as well as contemporary and upcoming writers such as Jez Butterworth and Claire-Louise Bennett. As well as my creative background, I have worked for over four years in the journalistic fields of blogs, food writing, and copy. After much self exploration and training, I have come to realise that the writing process is not mono-tracked. That is to say that writing flows more easily from our pens and fingertips when our holistic being is tuned up, much like an instrument.

The creative and linguistic parts of the brain are able to function smoothly when our body is in a parasympathetic state, and our mind is clear from chatter and inner voices of criticism and self-judgement. We can achieve this state by giving our mind and body daily workouts, clearing the roads, if you will. Through practising simple exercises we can access our creative writing ability with more ease, just like working out a muscle.

My knowledge and over a decade of experience with Yoga, breath work and energetics is combined to provide my clients with all the tools they need to overcome writers block, tune in to their creative force, and write with confidence and ease.

I use holistic techniques to help with breaking through the fears that hold us back from putting pen to paper, and reconnect with the joy of writing. Using simple breathing and movement techniques as well as writing exercises and a daily writing assignment, your writing confidence will quickly flow and grow. We will do some excavation into your beliefs around your writing ability, success, and competition in order to disengage with the thought patterns which may hold you back.

Unlock Your Creative Potential sessions are between 45 minutes to an hour long.

I have four years of experience as a freelance writer, and a BA(hons) in Journalism and Creative Writing. In 2018-2019 I lived and taught English as a foreign language in Hong Kong and wrote for a food magazine.

My sessions are appropriate for any writer who is over the age of 12, and who has a good command of the english language but would like to establish a better writing practice. Perhaps you have ideas for a book but hold fear that you aren't good enough. Maybe you need help with writing and structuring a script or story for an assignment.

There are no prerequisites as to who I coach!
