About Rubin
I am a multifaceted teacher who has extensive experience in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and who specialises in English as the Medium of Instruction (EMI) and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). As an English teacher, I have taught students from all age groups and levels including students who were just starting out, those returning after a long interval and those others who required preparation for exams. Regarding exam students, I've worked with students who on average have achieved band scores in the 7-9 range when undertaking IELTS. I have also assisted students who have successfully completed the Cambridge English C2 Proficiency exam (CPE) achieving a mark of at least 200.
I also have the unique experience of being a Content and language Integrated Learning (CLIL) teacher. Due to my work as a CLIL teacher, I have not only gained invaluable classroom teaching experience, I have been able to teach foreign school students school subjects in English. The overall aim of CLIL is to provide English language immersion through the teaching of a school subject such as science, art, literature etc in English. In addition to teaching the classes, I co-developed the course program and assisted in creating the lesson plans at the gymnasium I worked at. My approach heavily relied on the content, cognition, communication method that CLIL represents; a method that I employ in all my teaching endeavours.
