About HD
I am a veteran educator with 15+ years of classroom experience and an M.A. in Education, certified to teach 7–12 ELA and Social Studies. I have taught ELA and Social Studies in grades 5–12, and have extensive experience in K–6 reading support, including inclusion settings. I also bring years of experience in one-on-one and small-group K–12 tutoring, as well as extensive knowledge of virtual learning environments. My philosophy is student-centered: I help students identify their strengths, close learning gaps, and achieve their goals through differentiated instruction and tailored accommodations. I use evidence-based strategies, including the Science of Reading, and embed social-emotional learning to help students build confidence, persistence, and a love of learning. Lessons are interactive, structured, and engaging, combining guided reading, writing exercises, vocabulary development, and comprehension strategies to enhance understanding. My goal is to empower students academically and personally, helping them grow as confident, independent learners.

I use a student-centered, evidence-based approach to literacy and ELA, grounded in the Science of Reading, and tailor lessons to each learner’s strengths and needs.
My lessons are ideal for 3rd–7th grade students, including those who need enrichment, remediation, or support in reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
At this time, I only provide online, virtual tutoring. I have extensive experience delivering high-quality virtual intervention and instruction to students of all ages.
