About Dylan

I am a violin teacher with over 7 years of experience. I teach all levels from beginners to advanced students. I have taught between 200 and 250 students successfully. Many have passed graded exams, performed in orchestras, and gained confidence in solo playing. My teaching is based on demonstration, feedback, and consistency. I focus on posture, bowing, intonation, and expression. I also teach reading, theory, and ear training. I give clear feedback for effective progress. I am patient, supportive, and reliable. I celebrate progress and support students through challenges. I take pride in my students' development and their love for music. My goal is to develop skilled and confident violinists.

My teaching method for violin is built on three elements: demonstration, feedback, and consistency. I believe learning violin is a long-term process requiring patience, effort, and clear direction. My aim is to help students develop solid technical skills, musical expression, and lasting appreciation for the instrument. Demonstration is central to my instruction. I show students how professional violinists execute techniques in actual performances. I use recordings and videos to illustrate bowing, phrasing, and tonal quality. I share stories from my own career and past students to make learning practical and relevant. When students struggle, I refer to similar situations and explain how they were addressed. This approach makes learning more concrete. Feedback is another vital component. I provide specific observations on posture, bow hold, intonation, rhythm, and expression after each exercise and piece. I highlight strengths and areas for improvement. I teach students to listen to themselves critically so they can self-correct during practice. I use lesson recordings for objective evaluation. This builds independent learning skills. Consistency provides a secure learning environment. I am punctual, prepared, and reliable. My students understand lesson structure and expectations. I am also reliable in communication, responding to questions and checking on practice. This builds trust and confidence. My curriculum covers many violin subjects. Technique is a primary focus, including posture, bow grip, hand position, finger placement, and bowing techniques like legato, staccato, spiccato, and détaché. I use scales, arpeggios, and études to build strength and precision. Intonation is addressed with ear training and drone practice. I teach shifting and vibrato progressively. Sight-reading uses graded materials. Theory covers keys, time signatures, intervals, and chord progressions. Repertoire is chosen to match each student's taste, covering classical, folk, jazz, and contemporary styles. I teach phrasing, bow control, dynamics, and expression. Ear training is included in every session. Improvisation is introduced for creative freedom. Performance preparation builds stage confidence. Each lesson has a clear structure with warm-ups, scales, repertoire, and review. I assess progress regularly and adjust goals. My goal is to develop confident, expressive, and skilled violinists.
