About Tom
I am currently in my last year at Berklee College of Music. While studying here has given me access to some of the best musicians, educators, and resources in the world, being a great musician doesn't automatically make you a great teacher. A great teacher not only has to be passionate about what they are teaching, but they have to care about the student. They need to find joy in witnessing a student grow and find their own passion in their craft. While I am confident and have been working my whole life on my musicianship and skills, I pride myself most on the excitement I feel when a student succeeds.

For voice lessons, I first gather a baseline of how much the student knows about vocal pedagogy and their own voice. Then I have them sing something of their choice to gauge their proficiency. I think with any craft, it's important to understand the fundamentals of how things work. For beginners, I have them do exercises and warm ups that utilize the basic functions of the vocal cords and breathing mechanisms. It is so important to build a strong foundation and create awareness of the body. If a student has the fundamentals already, the lessons begin to focus more on musicality and artistry."Great" singers can sing a piece "perfectly" but not connect with their audience. With more advanced students, it is important to work on delivery and emotion. My voice lessons are for anyone at any level. I also offer violin, guitar, piano, and music theory lessons at beginner levels.
