About O'kessena
The Door-Opener
I teach English because language is a passport.
I've watched a student stumble over "hello" in week one, then negotiate their first job interview in English by month six. Same mouth, different world.
Words are bricks. Diction is the architecture. Spelling is the blueprint. I’m here for the moment a student realizes they can build their own door and walk through it.
English didn’t just teach me grammar. It taught me how to belong to more than one story. I teach so my students get to write their next chapter without a translator.

As an English teacher, I want a “foundation → fluency” path that builds skills on top of each other instead of in isolation. Here’s the approach that works best, from zero to proficiency:
1. Start with High-Frequency + High-Utility Words
I don’t teach random vocab lists. I teach words students will see 80% of the time.
Method: Use the NGSL 2800 list or Dolch/Fry lists for beginners, then move to Academic Word List.
Rule: 8-12 new words per lesson. Any more and retention drops.
