About Simon
I am a passionate learner who spent 7 years in higher education and continues to research and explore experiential pedagogies, where the focus is on the feeling that learning is happening. I am a professional writer, director and performer with various theatre companies, and I am a researcher in the areas of social prescription and applied arts intervention. I have taught and continue to teach at various British drama schools. I move systematically by stimulating students verbally, mentally and through writing.
I use creative tools to activate our neurolinguistic muscles, generate ideas and broaden our vocabulary and sense of risk; then we follow strict frameworks exploring the reading and writing of poetry. The themes that bely studies return to transformation, imagination, the poetics of literature, and often wider subjects such as ecology, psychology or critical thinking.
