About Gabriel
Hello! I am a graduating student at Yale University, receiving a BS in Physics and a BA/MA in History. I am applying for PhD programs in History for Fall 2023 because I love learning and teaching.
While I am open to tutoring college students and primary students, I am most comfortable teaching high schoolers in the following subjects: Mathematics through Calculus III (this includes Trigonometry, Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics), Physics, Chemistry, Biology, US History, World History, European History, and Spanish. Additionally, I can help prepare for the SAT.
My academic interests have now shifted primarily towards the intellectual history of Modern Europe and the history of the Russian Empire and Early Soviet Union. I am currently a research assistant for Professor Paul Kennedy and have conducted archival research at Princeton and in Moscow. Outside of academics, I am very involved in the Yale Political Union, a long-standing Yale debate society where I was elected Vice President in 2020. While my favorite genre is classic rock, I also have a passion for singing and choral music. For two years I have conducted the Yale Russian Chorus, founded in 1953 with the purpose of celebrating Eastern European music and tempering the relationship between the United States and Russia since the Cold War. In 2019, I participated in a professional tour to Moscow where we sang at the US Embassy with the support of the State Department.
Most importantly, I want to help students enjoy what they are learning, as I find that this is the most effective way to achieve mastery in a subject. I speak Spanish and Russian, and have worked with students from many backgrounds. I hope I can help you in your academic pursuits!

Before anything else, I believe that effective teaching requires inspiration and a love of learning. Our lessons will be highly personalized, and I hope to develop a plan specific to your needs.
While I am most qualified to teach high school students, I am also able to teach younger and older students. I have a special interest in working with gifted students in lower grades, as I know there is a need for comprehensive and personal curricula to achieve academic potential outside of school. I am prepared to create a curriculum that includes reading lists and assignments specially tailored to your needs.
I have a car and can drive within the greater Hartford/New Haven area. If this does not work, I am very comfortable tutoring online, especially after three years of Zoom due to COVID.
My hourly rate is flexible, depending on your circumstances, my required preparation time, and travel distance.
