About Alicia
Hi! My name is Alicia, and I am a D1 student-athlete double majoring in Economics & Psychology at Yale University. I have a lot of experience working with youth, and I am committed to adapting my teaching style to meet each student’s individual needs. I focus not only on improving performance, but also on helping students develop long-term problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of the material. I take a structured, student-centered approach to writing and essay tutoring, focusing on helping students develop clear, organized, and compelling arguments. Rather than simply editing their work, I guide students through the full writing process—brainstorming ideas, building strong thesis statements, organizing paragraphs, and refining clarity, style, and grammar. I emphasize active learning so students gain skills they can apply independently.
A typical lesson begins with understanding the assignment and the student’s goals, followed by outlining or reviewing a draft together and creating a solid thesis. We then revise collaboratively, focusing on strengthening arguments, improving organization, and polishing language. I also introduce practical strategies for planning, revising, and proofreading.
What sets me apart is my ability to break down complex writing tasks into manageable steps while creating a supportive, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas. Lessons are well-suited for middle school, high school, and college students, including those working on essays, research papers, or general writing development.
