I teach following ACTFL guidelines, using a student-centered approach that encourages learners to speak more than I do. Grammar is taught in context, with a strong emphasis on natural and meaningful communication. Depending on the level, I conduct 90–100% of lessons in the target language. I incorporate writing to enhance understanding and use visual aids to reinforce concepts. I build on previously learned grammar and vocabulary to help students recycle and internalize them.
For beginners and intermediate learners (low and mid levels), a typical lesson begins with a warm-up and a review of previous material. I then introduce new grammatical structures in context. Activities change every 10–15 minutes to maintain focus and engagement (oral and writing). For advanced-level learners, conversation practice often begins with a short reading, which serves as a basis for discussion.
