About Matt
Hello! My name is Matt, and I am a 22-year-old guitarist who has recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a first in my degree. I have just finished four years of lessons from the well-renowned classical guitarist Craig Ogden. After seven years of thoroughly enjoying my musical education from the Junior Conservatoire all the way to the Senior Conservatoire, I am hoping to be able to inspire you to want to begin or continue your musical journey, whatever direction you are looking to go. I am an enthusiastic tutor and have always had a passion for guitar; I love to pass on my enthusiasm for learning to my pupils. I adapt my lesson style to fit each student's requirements. I typically assess their learning style and natural strengths and weaknesses in the first lesson. I am open to tutoring any age and offer lessons for beginner-advanced guitarists. I can guide students through ABRSM/Trinity/Rock School graded exams. However, it is entirely up to the pupil and what they aim to achieve through my tutorage.

Perfect! Matt is an excellent guitar teacher, having great ability to make me feel comfortable throughout the lesson, giving praise and encouragement, identifying areas that need improving, and giving immediate analysis and various remedies to solve these areas. Always enjoyable, and all lessons have benefitted my playing ability. Matt allows me to work on the music pieces I choose and he works through them with me, preparing the lesson beforehand.

Matt is a really friendly teacher that has helped me with my beginner guitar skills. Our lessons have been helpful, but also really fun - I highly recommend!!
I was Matt’s guitar teacher at the RNCM. He was an excellent student and did extremely well in his degree. He’s a lovely guy and will be a brilliant teacher sympathetic to the needs of individual students. He became a superb classical guitarist but is equally accomplished and experienced on electric which makes him rare and unusually versatile. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough! Craig Ogden.
