About Nicholas
After a background in primary school teaching, I started teaching EFL in Sydney in 1997. Firstly, general English at a private language school and then both general English and academic English at the University of Sydney. There, I have been heavily involved in curriculum design as well as teaching adults at all levels and in a wide range of ESL/EFL courses including preparation for IELTS and Cambridge exams. My specialty is teaching academic writing skills. I completed my Masters in TESOL at USYD a few years ago. I also have a Bachelor of Education (SA) and CTEFLA qualification (Cambridge certificate).

I use an interactive teaching methodology and encourage my students to participate actively as much as possible. I believe it is essential to establish a warm and friendly rapport with my students to maximize the learning experience. It is important to model tasks fully before expecting students to complete them independently. Positive and constructive feedback is essential to help students improve. I like to find out what my students' interests are. I'm genuinely interested in finding out more about them, their lives, and working hard to achieve their individual needs. I have received very positive feedback from my students and can provide testimonials from my former students in Italy, Colombia, and China, to name a few.

Nicholas was my English teacher a few years back, at the University of Sydney. He's a fantastic teacher and his classes are interesting, as he's very knowledgeable. Not only he has a clear diction but he cares about his students, he really makes a point to not only give them the best tools to improve their skills but to give them a good taste of the Australian culture. I highly recommend him. I thoroughly enjoyed being his student and my English proficiency got much better after him.
