About Etta
"Language acquisition is rarely about memorizing rules, which is the most frustrating part of standard classrooms. I found my path into English instruction by realizing that technical systems govern communication just as they govern board games.
Having worked with 103 students, I treat academic writing and IELTS or TOEFL exam preparation as a series of solvable puzzles. My MA in Cognitive Science helps me break down phonics for beginners and complex poetry or prose into digestible units. Business English requires a different set of logic, which I apply to proofreading and editing tasks.
After 7 years of teaching, I understand the friction students feel during reading comprehension exercises. My personal history with chess taught me that focus and calculation are universal tools. I bring this analytical background to every session, regardless of your current level."
