I was a pure math undergraduate student back in 2006 when I sat beside Talat in the metro train and spotted him holding a math book. Rare as it was, I asked him what he does. He told me he’s a mathematician. I asked, “What do you do now?” He said he develops software and performs mathematical simulations in a startup company. So I asked for advice about what to do with my math degree, and he said, “Start learning Python.” I said I knew nothing about programming, and he said, “It’s very easy; I will teach you!” And my journey in programming started.

Perhaps it is because Talat and I are both mathematicians and we speak the same language, so when he breaks down the logical steps to get a program running, I picked it up right away. Talat has a talent for breaking things down into bite-size logical constructs, and that’s what beginners need. Your first lesson with Talat would be him observing how you think and code.
